独学で作曲を始め、後に山田武彦、ハヤ・チェルノヴィンに師事。秋吉台国際20世紀音楽セミナー&フェスティバル、Darmstadt 国際夏季音楽講習会などで細川俊夫、ブライアン・ファーニハウ、ヘルムート・ラッヘンマン、マグヌス・リンドベルイなどのレッスンを受け、研鑽を積む。作 品は Barrie Webb, Arditti String Quartet, Friedrich Reinhold, Alain Trudel, 野平一郎、曽我部清典、村田厚生、他、数多くの演奏家により、国内外で演奏されている。

2003年 文化庁舞台芸術創作奨励賞特別賞受賞
1999年より Japan Project のメンバーとして Barrie Webb とのコラボレーションに参画
2011 - 2015年 Requiem..ad Vitam Aeternam 作曲 / Barrie Webb とのコラボレーション～レコーディング実施によりCD がUKでリリース発売される。
2016年 3/11 東日本大震災5周年 3.11 追悼コンサート主催 Requiem...ad Vitam Aeternam 初演 3/18 に高知で再演。
2016年 5/28 Requiem...ad Vitam Aeternam ブカレスト新音楽の国際音楽週間にてヨーロッパ初演
2016年 11/3 Timisoara 新しい音楽の国際音楽祭にてヨーロッパ再演
Cain Yokoyama
Cain Yokoyama started composition as self-taught, then later studied with Takehiko Yamada and Chaya Czernowin.
He won the "Akiyoshidai 20th Music Seminar & Festival Composition Prize" and the "Performing Arts Creation Award of the Japanese Agency of Cultural Affairs".
Yokoyama has participated in "The Japan Project", the ongoing collaboration series with Barrie Webb and Japanese composers, since 1999. Their recent collaboration, "Requiem...ad Vitam Aeternam" for trombone solo, composed by Yokoyama for the victims of Northern-East-Japan Earthquake, has been given several performances including the World premiere in Tokyo on 2016/3/11, the 5th anniversary of the disaster. A CD recording was published on Trombone Classics (UK). The celebrated American trombonist Professor Stuart Dempster described the work as "powerful in just the right way for the memorial tribute intention".
